MIGRAIN ASSESSMENT -LEARNER RESPONSE

 1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

WWW: fair attempt Tharnika, you are able to respond to the Qs in this paper with some sustained points and fair, satisfactory analysis.

EBI:Not enough close, detailed analysis e.g. Q1-analysis of film poster. Also reference further genre theories for Q3.

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Identify at least one potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment.
QUESTION 1:Good use of the theoretical framework (media language & narrative theory) to
analyse how poster uses narrative codes and Todorov disequilibrium theory.

QUESTION 2:understanding of the influences of the social and cultural contexts on media products that is usually supported by mostly appropriate and effective reference to the set products and British culture

QUESTION 3:of the influences of genre on media audiences and industries and money.
3) Read this exemplar response from a previous Year 12 (an A grade) - note this was a slightly different paper in terms of the question wording and also had an additional question 4 (we've updated it to better reflect recent exams). Identify at least one potential point for questions 1-3 from this student's paper that you could have mentioned in your assessment.

QUESTION 1:i could have linked it to Todorov and Barthes study as it links to the question(key elements of narrative theory)

QUESTION 2:talking about the dark and light environment

QUESTION 3:Abercromie theory;"media producers set out to exploit genre conventions it makes sound economic sense.

4) Did you get any media terminology or theory wrong in the assessment? Make a note of it here for future revision, including theories/terminology that you could have used but didn't.
Barthes-sighnifier which means the thing that does the communication and sighnified which means what is being communicated.
Todorov-all narratives contain equilibrium, disequilibrium, recognition, resolution, and new equilibrium.
5) Identify your weakest question and write three bullet points that would improve on your original response. Use the mark scheme and exemplar paper to identify these points - particularly focusing on the anticipated content and the top level descriptors.
My weakest question was question 2.i should have focused more on the question itself and used theory to support my answer or example,Ferdinand de Saussure as he talks about Polysemic and etc.i should use more media terminology and also talked about the British culture an dominant ideologies.
