Audience theory 2: blog tasks

  1) Social learning theory has been criticised for simplifying the causes of violence in society. Do you think the media is responsible for anti-social behaviour and violence? I think the media is responsible but also its on they young people that chose to behave like what they see on media knowing its bad or be bad and get influenced easily, and the more young individuals interact with others virtually rather than in person, the more antisocial behaviors they will acquire.  2) How is social learning theory relevant in the digital age? Are young people now learning behaviour from social media and the internet? Give examples. Social media is now teaching young people how to behave because the more they use it, the more they come to believe that what they see is typical. This demonstrates how applicable and prevalent the social learning theory is in the digital age. 3) Research  three  examples of moral panic from the last 50 years.   Audience theory 1: blog tasks Hypodermic needle model 1) Read this  Mail Online article about the effects of videogames . How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model? It hows that child react the way and learn from what they see as it influences them. 2) How does coverage of the Talk Talk hacking case (see Daily Mail front page below) link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone  criticise  this front page?  It suggest that children learn and get influenced badly from playing gruesome video games and by looking at the poster they might get influenced. 3) What do  you  think of the hypodermic needle theory? Do audiences believe everything they see in the media? I think that most the times people believe what they hear and see from the media and most likely that kids will copy what they see as they don't have the knowledge to know what right and wrong and get influenced easily as they may think its right just beca...

Good effort on your Reading an Image blog post - you are beginning to use specific media terminology in your analysis such as narrative codes and conventions.   EBI:  Two key areas to improve here: firstly, some of your work is missing or unfinished and it’s important to make sure you are organised and fully completing work. Make sure you post the Reception theory, Genre, and Narrative blogs as soon as you can. On a side note, try and develop your exposure to other forms of media such as Newspapers, to ensure you are exposed to a variety of newsworthy content.   LR:  Complete any missing or unfinished work.   Reflect on your work in A Level Media so far: What is your strongest piece of work?  Semiotic blog work. What is your weakest?  Narrative work What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course? I need to get the work d...

WWW: fair attempt Tharnika, you are able to respond to the Qs in this paper with some sustained points and fair, satisfactory analysis. EBI:Not enough close, detailed analysis e.g. Q1-analysis of film poster. Also reference further genre theories for Q3. 2) Read  the mark scheme for this assessment  carefully.
